Adjustment of Status

Adjustment of Status is an application filed by an individual already in the United States who wants to get a green card without returning to his or her home country. This process helps the individual to become a lawful permanent resident if the individual meets certain qualifications.

How do you file for an Adjustment of Status?

The first step in the process is to determine into what immigrant eligibility category the individual most appropriately fits.  Typically, an individual becomes eligible for a Green Card through a petition filed on their behalf by either an employer or a family member.  In addition to family-based and employment-based categories, there are also special classes of immigrants and humanitarian programs that render an individual eligible to adjust their status in the United States.

It takes a skilled and seasoned immigration lawyer to uncover all of the possible ways an individual may legalize his or her status.

How can The Shulman Law Group help you?

At The Shulman Law Group, we take our consultation process very seriously. It is during this time that we learn the full immigration background of our clients and ask detailed questions about the nature of their entry into the United States and other important facts about their family history, relationship history, professional history, and criminal history. We listen to all of our clients very carefully, because certain historical facts guide us in fully advocating for their immigration needs.
